Box-office director Shankar’s “I” is breaking all sorts of records; not only on controversies, but on revenue side too. “I” was made with an over Rs.90 crore budget and it has gleefully recovered its expenditure. The movie had mixed reviews. For some it was disappointing while for others it’s a big hit. However reviews aside, the “I” has crossed Rs.100 crore mark in India alone. It collected nearly Rs.103 crores.
The break-up is as follows:
Tamil Version : Rs.60 crores (Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka)
Telugu Version: Rs.35 crores (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana)
Hindi Version: Rs. 8 crores (Northern parts of India)
As far as Tamil movies arwe concerned, it is said so far only five Tamil movies have joined the Rs.100 Crore Club. They are Rajinikanth’s Enthiran and Lingaa, Vijay’s Thuppaki, and Kaththi, Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam and now Vikram’s “I” has been added to the list.
